Brilliant, sexy m/m love story

This is the second book in the series (it can be read as a "standalone") and it's Cameron and Travis story. What a pair! they are chalk and cheese. Cameron is the wholesome, all round good guy. Travis is the petulant, spoilt brat. The law of physics state that "opposites attract" and boy oh boy, do they!. Cameron does want a mate, someone kind and gentle, good with children (he definitely wants some) and female. What he gets is Travis! and ALL his problems.
When I first starting reading this, I didn't know where the authors were going to take me, I did know that Travis was someone I wanted slap and throttle - what a waste os space! but how clever of the authors to invoke so much emotion to make the readers feel this way - very clever and shows off their excellent imaginative writing skills. Then suddenly, the authors take us on another journey, where Travis suddenly becomes endearing, loveable and flirtatious, his "thoughts" made me chuckle! I love the way that the authors "throw in" other characters and some old favourites from their first book, these add substance and laughter to this wonderful love story. The blurb covers the story well, so I won't repeat. But what it doesn't tell you is that this is a hot, hot sexy book with two marvellous male leads, great secondary characters and a wonderful storyline, I WANT MORE! Though this book is written by two authors, I couldn't tell where one started or indeed, when one finished her imput, it was that well written. Highly, highly recommended.

Another Great Blackwater Falls Installment!

Camron is a good guy who has always done the right thing. He took care of his family after his father died and had a perfect ideal of a wife, children, and a white picket fence. Imagine his surprise when he realizes with a shock his true mate is cocky, spoiled, over indulged bad boy Travis. The instant attraction between them both is hard to fight.
Camron is convinced he can take control of this relationship and Travis will have to tow the line. Camron soon learns that taking control is not so easy with a strong willed mate. After a heated argument, Travis leaves and is thrown into danger. Camron, with the help of the sherriff and Travis's brother, stops at nothing to save his mate.

This was yet another sweet love story for me! With any relationship there are good and bad times. The good times for these two clan members are smoking hot! Shannon West and Susan Scott have done it once again! Kudos ladies!!!

a pleasant surprise.

After reading a bit about one of the main characters from this book, in the first one. I can rightly say that I was pleasantly surprised with how his story took place. I had originally started reading this book last night, due to the fact that I couldn't sleep. But soon found that I was completely unable to put it down, ended up finishing it within a day's time.

When it comes to Shannon West.. I have to admit, she's once again blown me away with this book. In regards to Susan Scott, this author is still a little new to me, but I'm quickly finding myself enjoying her way of writing just as I do with Ms. West.

They both are highly talented women, whom know how to leave you craving for more.. even before you've reached the middle of the book.

I would HIGHLY recommend this book, and the first of it's series, to anyone who's looking to read a dramatic page turning series.

A Character-driven, Smart, and Real Love Story

You could read Grit separately from Dirty, the first book about Link and Rocky, but I agree with the author that the reader would enjoy it even more by starting at the beginning. Also, if you haven't read Dirty yet, after Grit, you'll obsess and dive straight into Dirty anyway.

Cheryl McIntyre has die-hard fans who reads everything she writes, and I understand why: it's the consistency in her authorship. If you crave character-driven, smart, and real love stories of the kind that put your heart through the wringer, then hers are must-reads. Where Dirty was a dark, violent romance treating crimes not often spoken about, Grit picks up and focuses on what happens after that happily-ever-after of the first book. I can count on one hand the dark romances who have gone there - beyond that HEA - to follow the characters' lives without inventing some new adventure to push them into.

"Link's quest for revenge ended in my redemption. Or so I thought. The part I didn't fully understand is that recovery is a process." This is how the first chapter begins. When two permanently scarred humans try to digest their pasts, how do they manage their guilts and fears, meld them with their day-to-day routines? Exactly how strong does their love need to be for them to survive as a couple?

The banter with Link's guy friends at the gym made for a nuanced book. It made me smile, even laugh at times. Then there's the subtle sexiness that is Link himself. His innate protective attitude toward Rocky, and his penchant for what Rocky calls "one of the many perks of working at his gym:" office sex with the boss.

Sometimes, their dialog is masterfully simple, cute, and hot all at once:
"I want you," he husks. "Right here. Right now."
"That's good," I breathe, "because I want to give myself to you. Right here. Right now."

But then with seamless expertise Cheryl brings us back to the essence of what Link and Rocky face: "Life is an ugly and wondrous thing. It beats you to a pulp and rewards you for surviving. Over and over, it's an endless loop of ups and downs. Goods, and bads. Pleasures and pains. Gifts and losses. We power through."

We know Rocky and Link so well by the end of this book. We root for them. We love them. And Grit is easily on my top ten list for 2015.

Dark, Gritty Perfection!

Stand alone or series? It really doesn’t matter to me as long as the story is GOOD and the wait between books isn’t AGES. If you’re looking for a raw, gritty, heartbreaking and also hopeful series, this baby is the one!!
Seriously, Rocky and Link’s story was just so dark, visceral that I couldn’t put the series down. And when it ended, despite how riveting it was and the inkling of a HEA at the end, it left me wanting more. So when I saw that Ms. McIntyre had gifted us this final installment, I couldn’t have been happier.

This takes place in the aftermath of Link’s quest for vengeance. Link tries to navigate daily life without the drive and purpose of avenging Olivia’s death. He feels guilt for finding love and happiness in Rocky’s arms. A betrayal to what he had with Olivia. He strives to find a way to move forward and find some sort of peace with his horrific past.

“But this is my serenity. These little moments with her. Her touch. Her laugh. Her.”

While Rocky struggles with wondering what’s next for them. Will she always be second place in Link’s life?

“I’ve tried to never let it bother me that the man I love has another woman’s name tattooed over his heart, but it’s difficult.”

Can she settle for second spot and have a future together?

“He may not have fixed what’s broken inside of me – because nobody can do that – but he helps me be okay with being damaged.”

This final book takes you on a journey through closure, hope and the promise better days for these two beautiful yet broken souls.

This book was the perfect ending to a perfectly messed up love story.

There are a million questions you could ask me that I would have a hard time narrowing down to a single answer like who my favorite band is or what my favorite song is, my favorite movie or the best book I've ever read, or which of my kids is my favorite. Picking one would be impossible. But I have one favorite author and the answer has been the same for the last several years....Cheryl McIntyre. She's my answer, my only answer ever single time....and books like this are the reason. She just always gets it right and Grit is no exception.

Dirty, the first book in this series and an absolute must read BEFORE Grit, was a hard read, amazing and emotional, but hard. It was gut-wenching and stomach twisting and painful but still very much a love story about surviving and finding what you need when you least expect it and you don't even know what it is. And Grit picks up right where Dirty leaves off, with Link and Rocky still surviving, still dealing but also trying to heal and trying to do that together.

I love these characters, they are so flawed and so scarred and completely struggling to move forward, but they are also survivors and inherently good people who have seen the very worst the world can dish out. Neither one of them ever expected to be in a relationship and witnessing them stumble their way through it is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

One of the things that sets a Cheryl McIntyre book apart is that ever single thing that happens, ever action and reaction, every event, every thought or feeling a character has makes sense, it's believable within the context of the story, it`s planned and thought out and done right. It's just all done right. Her characters stay true to character, there's growth and change, they adapt and sometimes even surprise you, but at their core they remain the people you fell in love with. Link and Rocky are no exception.

The other thing that sets her books apart is her ability to put you in her characters' heads, to make you feel what they feel. It's remarkable really. When Rocky panicked, I panicked, my heart raced and my breathing picked up. When Link got angry, I felt angry, when Rocky cried, I cried. With ever decision they made I was right there with them. I might not have agreed with them, hell I might even have been screaming NO at my kindle, but I was with them, feeling it, experiencing it. That...that right there is the reason I read books and Cheryl never lets me down.

I loved this book, I couldn't put it down. And the absolute best part....being there when Link and Rocky get it right, when they finally start to catch a break and when they finally start to heal. It made every painful step worth it. It was the perfect ending to a perfectly messed up love story.

In answer to a challenge from a composer, she built the first violin octet—a family of eight violins ranging in size from an eleven-inch treble to a seven-foot contrabass, and in register across the gamut of the piano keyboard. She wrote more than 100 technical papers—including two benchmark Scientific American cover articles—founded an international society devoted to violin acoustics, and became the only American and the only woman to be honored in Cremona, Italy, the birthplace of Stradivari.

Hutchins died in 2009 at the age of ninety-eight. The most innovative violinmaker of the modern age, she set out to explore two worlds she knew virtually nothing about—violins and acoustical physics. An ex-SHE-ellent debut issue! Faithful to the spirit of the television show, but with its own comic book feel, and expanding on the SheZow mythos. 36 pages, ALL story with no ads. That's a Perry big issue. Written AND drawn by Niels Erickson. I can't think of any other comic book with a one-man art/script department, can you? Obie Scott Wade, the creator of SheZow, is editor-in-chief so the book was assured from the beginning to be something the fans would love.

As a fan of SheZow, I can say this falls in line with what you'd find in any episode of SheZow. Puns galore, she-mazing action, and a brand new sidekick each time. I will say the comic though is slightly more cheeky than in the show, perhaps the freedom of the medium? I can't complain, I love every page of it, especially Sheila!

An enduring testament to the resilience of the human spirit

This is an older edition (1986 Summit Books Book Club Edition) which compiles 3 volumes of Primo Levi's work about the Holocaust, i.e. Survival in Auschwitz, The Reawakening, and Moments of Reprieve. "Survival in Auschwitz" (1947) recounts Primo Levi's personal experiences during the 10 months he spent in Auschwitz. "The Reawakening" (1963) narrates his journey after liberation. In both works, what struck me as amazing was the absence of self-pity. Instead, Levi writes with fervor and the dark (and there's plenty of that) is offset by the rare tinges of humor. The Nazis' mission to completely dehumanize their incarcerated prisoners and exterminate the Jews is well-documented. Also compelling are accounts of how survival could sometimes be determined by the strangest circumstances and coincidences and where the presence of fear, pain,mortality, and uncertainty is always prevalent."Moments of Reprieve" (1979) is a collection of stories about some of the characters that made an impression on Levi during those dark years. How did Levi recall these people and their stories more than 30 years after the war? The author addresses this in his foreword to "Moments of Reprieve". I am glad to have all three volumes in one work (the only copy I had previously was "Survival in Auschwitz") and it goes without saying that Levi's works describing his Holocaust experiences are a must-read in the annals of Holocaust literature.

Potent witness testimony of eleven months in Auschwitz

Incredible account.

Levi deliberately takes the neutral tone of a witness in the stand recounting the 11 months he spent as a prisoner in Auschwitz, from his arrest in Italy, transportation, internment, and the random mess of liberation. Much as the biblical Easter accounts (unlike many preachers and depictions) don't dwell on or try to evoke or milk the brutality of the crucifiction, Levi dispassionately relates what happened. There's a profound tension in this: any half-functioning human can only have an appropriately deep emotional reaction. Levi doesn't deny this, but seeks an intellectual and philosophical response as well. That the events of the holocaust could ever have happened should not only bring us to tears, but it should make us think - and centrally about this question, "If this is a man". Many of the Germans responsible had decided that it was possible to define Jews as less than human and to treat them that way. In some ways Levi might seem to suggest that they succeeded in reducing their victims to a sub-human state, where there was no longer any defining characteristic of humanity - whether it be sentience, morality, communication, self-consciousness, whatever - merely an awareness of hunger, pain and fatigue. One chapter, for example, is entitled, `The Good Day' - a day that for anyone else would be completely appalling - but through the inevitable quirks of occasional administrative glitches (even in Germany) Levi and a few others managed an hour or two of escape from extreme hunger and discomfort ... to briefly slip back into awareness of the grief of the knowledge of their murdered wives and children. Bizarrely, however, every page of this dry account screams out the opposite: these are real people. As a reader you want them not to be, as a way to dull the sense of atrocity, but it's unavoidable. And extraordinary that this is accomplished without the usual armoury of writer's techniques - emotive adjectives, simile and metaphor. There's even hardly any dialogue to build character and situation.

Some of this is the uniqueness of the writer. I first came to Levi though his excellent The Wrench, which among other things is a meditation on the contrast between blue and white collar work. His reserved, thoughtful style was surprisingly engaging. It fit for me that (in an appendix to the edition of `If This Is A Man' that I read) when Levi addressed the question of, `How did your experience at Auschwitz change you?' one aspect was that he became a writer - something he never would have considered beforehand. His voice feels uncontrived, unmanipulative - which is ironically particularly `effective' (a term which relates more to contrivance and manipulation). But as he also points out, he could only tell his story - and he leaves it to others to tell theirs. This relates so strongly to the title - another prisoner's account, even deliberately in this style of objective witness in the stand, would have massive factual correlation, but would also be a very different account. You'd think that surely individuality has been destroyed in this vile machine, and that was how some blind/ed fools thought who could not see beyond the similarity of gaunt, stinking bodies in filthy threadbare uniforms. Yet even here every prisoner is textured and unique - and not because of laboured efforts to evoke this. It simply is. Interestingly in this account it's the Germans that are largely interchangeable, even invisible - perhaps because Levi knew he would not be capable of dwelling on them without stepping outside his dispassionate mode.

What impressed me most about this book, is the almost clinical approach of Primo Levi's experience. There is much to learn and understand, if you are open, much can be applied to other conditions about human behavior over the past several decades since this tragic event occurred. Primo Levi tells of his ordeal without emotions, the insights, and wisdom he has gained in being in a concentration camp. He is a survivor because he was relatively young at the time, adapted to horrible conditions, and knew what he had to do to stay alive. Most did not, in fact 90% to 98% died, were gassed, within three months. He attributes his survival for several reasons. And he became a writer, remember he was a Phd Chemist from Turin, Italy, when he was captured, but the experience was so our whelming to him that he felt the need to write it all down and share with others his true story. It is three books in one and you will not be disappointed in reading this book from cover to cover.

Daniel Collins, a 20-year veteran of the wireless communications industry, is currently Chief Technology Officer – Wireless at Jasper Wireless, Inc. He began his career at Ericsson, where he worked in product development and product management roles and helped develop some of the world’s earliest GSM networks. Good book on very interesting topic but print quality is low.

This is a nice "interesting" book. I could not find more books dedicated to Carrier Grade VoIP, or Carrier Grade Voice. PSTN replacements are all over and every operator wants to replace legacy technology with IP on VoIP or VoLTE with carrier grade voice. Some chapters go very deep in the protocols. The book is published on par with books that are printed in overseas countries India at reduced rates. I checked and could not find hardbound copy of the book. With regards to English, I would give 2.5 out of 3. Authors do convey the message but the structure of sentences and words are a bit awkward.
